2021.11.30 15:12 anthonyg45157 Use UDR as an AP/Switch connected to a UDM or UDMP

Goal: Use UDR as an AP/Switch connected to a UDM or UDMP (Credit to c1badmofo,I had this idea in my head but he put in the work.) **Disclaimer"":I'm not a networking professional my home network is under 2500sqft and less than 30 devices.
Preface: I’ll start off by saying this should not be used in any type of professional setup and please do not bug other members with troubleshooting with a hacky setup like this. This will result in double NAT and possibly more latency. The latency in my case is minimal and in my use case the benefits outweigh the negatives which is leads me to my reasoning.
Main Reasoning: I’m using the UDR as a wired AP and as a switch which I have other devices connected. The UDR has an incredible price to performance ratio as an access point and switch. If you were to purchase an AP 6 lite and a flex mini you would be well over $100, where as the UDR can be had for much cheaper (as of EA) and you’ll get better coverage with the UDR. I realize it wasn’t designed for this but it can be setup and “work”.
This is a fairly simple process but could be complicated for many. This is how I have my network setup, I don’t have a modem so in my case I connect my ethernet plug from ISP directly to my UDM.
Final Result: In the end your main ethernet line will go into the WAN port on your UDM (or UDMP) then another Ethernet goes from any UDM port# 1-4 to the UDR WAN port.
When you log into your Ubiquiti account you’ll see both UDM and UDR devices listed and will have to control those separately along with the connected devices. As of now there is no way to adopt a UDR to a UDM or to another UDR. Your UDR and UDM should have the same wireless name and password so devices will switch between APs “seamlessly” for my network I have my UDR gateway set as 192.168.5.X and my UDM as 192.168.1.X.
Setup: First unplug your UDM and plug in the UDR and connect to your main Ethernet cord to the WAN port to connect the UDR to the internet. Complete setup and firmware update. Be sure to set the SSID and password of your wireless network to the same as your UDM/UDMP (word for word).
Once the UDR firmware update is complete you’re going to want to change the gateway IP address to something other than the main UDM. In my case my UDM using so I changed my UDR to be
Go into UDR settings---networks---Click LAN (yours should show the default advanced.
Disable Auto scale Network (important)
GATEWAY IP/SUBNET: (you can use another IP such as
DHCP RANGE: – (this is how I have my range setup you can change this if need be)
Here are my settings below:
Once you apply the settings unplug the UDR and plug your UDM back in (ISP ethernet to WAN port). Move your UDR to where you plan on having it. Run an ethernet wire from any port on the UDM to the WAN port on the UDR. Once everything boots up, it should be working as intended. Clients should be able to connect to and switch between the APs seamlessly while only changing the IP and you can run wired devices to your UDR.
I recommend setting a static IP on the UDM for the UDR to avoid issues in the future.
This is a rough draft but I think I hit all the main points. If you have any ideas how to make this better I'm more than happy to hear them.

2021.11.30 15:12 growlymcgee I (18F) have an emotionally abusive parent at home - can I tell a teacher?

I'm in a UK high school and my mother is a narcissist. I have no one else to tell, really, and I'd be ok sharing as long as they were ok listening - but is that something a teacher would be ok to hear about?
My mother threatened suicide, we called the police, she's had affairs for the past year with multiple other men, she's threatened to sue me and send me to prison (no, I'm not joking) - this all having come out and happened in the past 2ish months.
I'm paranoid, anxious, stressed to hell and need a break. I think I've been in some form of depression for the past two months too.
Could I tell a teacher this? My form tutor? I'm not a super friendly student, but they know some family issues have happened recently, I study hard, get straight As and have been offered an interview for Cambridge.
Would I be overstepping? Make it weird? I'm nearly an adult and don't act like a child-like teen. What's your opinion, fellow teachers?
Should I email (which I do a lot anyway, and can express myself best with)? In person? Not at all?

2021.11.30 15:12 Grimalkins_Star My Fiance doesn't make me feel appreciated

Basically what the title says :/ I am M22 she is F23, and I love getting her little surprises when I can, and she doesn't even seem to think much of it. Like last night for example, I got her a new bottle of wine, and put it in a cute gift bag I had bought. No reason for the gift, just wanted to be cute. And I walk in the room and even had some warm pizza on a plate for her and I to share, and as I walk in saying like "heyyy babyyy :) " She didn't even look my way from the movie she was watching, and I was just standing there like and idiot. Then when I was like "babe?" It took her like 30 second to even look at me. When I showered her the food I brought, she just took it from me no thank you, and when she tried the wine she just said she didn't like it. It stuff like this that just makes me feel like I am stupid and not appreciated at all. And I hate myself because when I am being nice and she blows it off, it makes me feel like a dumbass and like I am a stupid little puppy at her heels or something idk.
How can I make her understand I just want some "thank you baby! :) " And "aww that sweet" ya know? It's not hard but she just doesn't do it...
